8610-Mochi-crop-300Mochi came in with Captain Marvel. While the Captain is the slow, lumbering part of the pair, Mochi is the wild and crazy part. She runs rings around the other ferrets. She is a rather dark sable, very small and lightweight. She plays in the large group of young ferrets, so she does get along with other ferrets. Mochi has been known to nip when she was very excited playing. We think she just needs lots of active playtime and she will calm down.

Her previous owner didn’t have time for her, so she didn’t get out of the cage as much as she should have. We think she’s making up for lost time. She’s a happy little girl who would definitely liven up your life!

8607-Captain Marvel-300Captain Marvel came in with Mochi. Captain is the slow, cuddly, gentle one. Big and a little bit fat, Captain plays, but definitely does not mind being picked up. He has that “always looking for a treat” look on his face. His previous owner just didn’t have time for him and couldn’t let them out to play. We think this might have something to do with Captain’s little weight problem, and suspect he’ll slim down eventually.

Captain is playing in a large group of ferrets, so he does get along with other ferrets. It would be nice if he could stay with his buddy, Mochi.

Martin

  • Coat Color: Albino
  • Age: around 4
  • Behavior: Sweet, cuddly
  • Gender: Male
  • Adoption Donation: $75

UPDATE: We are sad to say that Martin got lymphoma and died. He was a favorite at the Hide-E-Hole and his smiling face is sorely missed. We are very sorry he didn’t find a permanent home before he had to leave us.

ORIGINAL LISTING: Martin is a big albino boy who does not have any tattoos in his ear. That means he is not a Marshall Farms ferret. Judging by his size and construction, he may have been privately bred. He is calm but does not like other ferrets. He likes to be cuddled and wants OUT of the cage all the time. He doesn’t play a long time, but he likes to play, nap, play, nap … and as soon as you put him back in the cage he will be biting and shaking the cage!

Martin’s eyesight is not very good — he walked right off the end of the table once — but he comes when he is called and seems to think people are very, very interesting.

He was previously owned at least twice … the last owner picked him up from the Animal Rescue League. We are pretty sure they vaccinated against rabies, but his distemper vaccine status is not known. We recommend having his titer taken before automatically vaccinating (due to a high risk of reaction). We can help you hook up with a vet to do that.

At the shelter he is eating mostly EVO dog little bites (don’t have a heart attack — it is a SUPER high quality food with 42% protein, 22% fat and the first five ingredients are turkey, chicken, turkey meal, chicken meal and potato with NO grains). Sometimes we mix in a little Marshall’s or 8in1 when it is donated, but the biggest part of the mix is the EVO. EVO recently had a recall due to salmonella (which is more dangerous to the people handling the food than it is to ferrets), and it might be hard to find. We do have some for sale at the shelter, at least for now.

Other good foods are Orijen kitten, Blue Wilderness, Wellness CORE … look for high protein with meat in the first few ingredients with little or no grains (corn, wheat, soy). Martin loves Wysong Archetype-1 Ferret food (freeze-dried … moisten with warm water). We use it more as a treat because it’s expensive.

Martin is an utterly sweet BIG boy who could use a little TLC and lots of time out to play. He has a delightful personality.
