2010 Giving Tree Gifts have Arrived!

This year we posted 8 ferrets (one was a set of 3) on the 2010 Giving Tree, and they all have Santas! Come see all the photos of ferrets enjoying their goodies!

CammieCammie and her gifts…Cammie is a four year old female with a number of health problems. She’s a sweetheart of a ferret, but she has a bad liver infection and is painfully thin. She’s under treatment, but is not adoptable at this point. We are fattening her up with our version of duck soup and chicken baby food (in addition to her regular very high-quality food). To see the rest of the photos, please follow this link to Flickr, where we uploaded them: Cammie and her gifts.

xCammie-12aCammie opening more gifts!…Cammie got more gifts! A very nice lady decided that Cammie was just too cute and sent her some nice stuff, along with a donation for the shelter. We’re very grateful! Check them out on Flickr: Cammie and gifts from Nancy.

Cammie-2-08Cammie with even more gifts!…Apparently a lot of people were touched by Cammie’s story and we got more than one anonymous gift for her. The generosity of the ferret community is amazing. Not only did all the ferrets on the Giving Tree get Santas, but some got more than one! See this set of photos here: Cammie set 2.

Cammie-3-14Cammie and gifts from Heather…And still more gifts for Cammie! Wow! Luckily, Cammie is a very sweet little girl who plays in a group of 9 ferrets and is quite willing to share. Good thing, too, because if she ate all those treats, she’d get a tummy ache! Check out the rest of the photos on Flickr: Cammie’s gifts from Heather.

BaxterBaxter and his gifts…Baxter turned 7 in August of 2010, and he’s a chubby boy! We recently discovered he needed thyroid meds, so he’s been getting those for a week or so. We’re hoping the meds will help him lose a little weight and get around better. Baxter simply adores his duck soup and would eat it until he popped. Tiny and her treatTiny and her gifts…This is poor pink Tiny (who doesn’t seem to know she’s either old or to be pitied) who is 8 years, 3 months old. She used to bite, but doesn’t any more. She used to hate every other ferret, and now she will play with the group at her foster mom’s house! She’s lively, playful and spunky. If you’d like to see the rest of the photos, please follow this link to Flickr, where we uploaded them: Tiny and her gifts.

Godzooki and nbone-03Godzooki and her gifts…Godzooki will be 8 next March (keep your fingers crossed) and is mostly naked from advanced adrenal disease. We’ve had her treated, but after a while, the fur just won’t come back. She feels pretty good and plays longer than some of the younger ferrets here at the shelter. This is a photo of Godzooki and her favorite treat … N-bones! To see the rest of the photos, please follow this link to Flickr, where we uploaded them: Godzooki and her gifts.

Faye treats 08Faye opening her gifts…This is Faye, who is 6-1/2 years old right now. She has adrenal disease and was losing her fur, but we got her the Deslorelan implant and her fur has come in nicer than we’ve ever seen it! She’s sweet, playful and lively and plays longer than ferrets years younger. She used to be nippy, but hasn’t been nipping for a long time. She seems quite happy, despite being mostly blind, too. The only time it annoys her is when I put the gate across and she walks into it! Go to Flickr to see the rest of the photos: Faye opening her gifts.

HollyHolly and her gifts…Holly is over 7 years old. She’s a delicate little old lady who enjoys her treats and her duck soup, but who doesn’t play very long anymore. She loves her Snuggle Safe disk that we warm in the microwave. Her little old lady bones seem to really appreciate the warmth. The rest of the photos can be seen on Flickr: Holly and her gifts.

Holly-Heather-06Holly and her gifts from Heather…Holly also got extra gifts this year. She seemed particularly interested in the Totally Ferret treats that Heather sent. She also seemed very interested in leaping off the table into thin air. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but there was an unfriendly group of ferrets playing and they would have beaten up the little thing! The rest of the photos can be seen here: Holly and gifts from Heather.

Mason-05Mason, Slate and Paris open their gifts from Becky…These are the “Miracle Ferrets” who had been abandoned in a building slated to be demolished. They missed the bulldozer by a whisker when one of the workers spotted a ferret inside the house. When they arrived at the shelter, they were very emaciated, but since then they have filled out and blossomed into fat, fluffy ferrets. They weren’t terribly interested in cooperating with my photo shoot, but here are the shots I was able to get: Mason, Slate and Paris opening gifts from Becky

Mason's group from Vanessa-08Mason’s group check out their gifts from Vanessa…Another set of lucky weasels, Mason, Slate and Paris (Mason is the dark-eyed white, Slate is the silver male and Paris is the chocolate female) received two sets of gifts. As you can see, they spread to the four corners of the table and made it tough to get a good photo! Check out the rest of the photos on Flickr: Slate, Mason and Paris.
